It’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and we are here to share some tips about how to maximize your breast health, naturally.
The Gua Sha stone, known primarily for it’s facial massaging benefits, can also be used on other parts of the body, including your chest and breasts!
What is Gua Sha? Gua Sha is an ancient skin care technique that dates back thousands of years in traditional Chinese Medicine. This tool is used to promote lymphatic drainage (the process of your body cleaning your arteries and tissues), increase blood and oxygen circulation, and results in a brighter and firmer appearance. Using a Gua Sha stone regularly will also help to effectively diminish the appearance of fine lines, and maintain a youthful glow.
What will the Gua Sha do for your Breasts? When used on your chest, the gua sha helps to detoxify the breast tissue, stimulate blood circulation and tissue regeneration, remove excess interstitial fluid (lymphatic drainage), reduce swelling and water retention, and eliminate toxins which improves the immune system.
Before we dive into the how, it is important to have the tools you need. Aside from the Gua Sha Stone itself, you want to have an oil or lotion for slip. Without using an oil or lotion, your stone will not glide smoothly, and can cause unnecessary discomfort from pulling and pinching your skin.
How to use the Gua Sha to remove toxins from your Breasts: Be Gentle! There is no need to press so hard that you are bruising yourself.
- OIL / LOTION: Apply your oil or lotion to the chest, underarm, and neck areas.
- NECK: Massage downwards towards the heart with the Gua Sha. Repeat this 10-15 times and then reverse the direction, massaging from the heart upwards.
- UNDERARM: Glide the Gua Sha from the armpit area horizontally across the side of your breast.. Repeat 10-15 times and then reverse direction.
- MID-BREAST / NIPPLE: Place the Gua Sha on the underside of your breast and gently massage upwards towards the nipple / top of breast. Repeat 10-15 times.
- OUTER BREAST: Place your Gua Sha on the outside of your breast, and massage inward and upward toward your heart / chest wall 10-15 times.
- INNER BREAST: Place your Gua Sha just outside the nipple / center of your breast and pump (press and release) at an angled upward motion 10-15 times.
REPEAT: Repeat this same sequence on the other breast.

While you're at it, please don’t forget to self-check for lumps and bumps at home. The best way to beat breast cancer is through early detection. We are currently experiencing a breast screening crisis, as screening rates have dropped 80%-90%, especially during the Covid 19 Pandemic. With 1 in 8 women being diagnosed with Breast Cancer, we encourage each and every one of you to stay on top of your screening appointments.
We hope your breasts enjoy this detoxifying massage as much as we do. You can find our Gua Sha Stone available for purchase on our website.
Cheers!
